Discounts and surcharges
Named discounts are the ones the till offers in one tap ("Regular 10%", "Staff meal"). Surcharges add to the bill when it's printed (a public holiday, a packing charge), printed by name.
Back office Settings Discounts and surcharges
- Discounts: tap Add discount, give it a Name (what the till shows), choose Percentage or An amount, and whether it should Ask why each time. Save.
- Limits by role (how much each role can give without a manager) are set in Roles.
- Surcharges: tap Add surcharge, give it a Name (printed on the bill), what it Adds (an amount, or % of the bill), the days, hours and dates, which orders (dine-in, takeaway, delivery) and whether it's Taxed. Save.
- Not now? Turn its On switch off: it's Paused · not on bills (the till, kiosk, table QR and online ordering leave it out) and keeps its settings. Turn it back on when you need it.
Example
Named discounts
"Regular 10%" (Percentage 10, asks why), "Staff meal" (Percentage 50, no reason needed), "Manager's call" (An amount, asks why). The till shows them as one-tap buttons.
Example
A public holiday surcharge
"Public holiday surcharge", Adds 15% of the bill, dine-in only, on the dates of the holiday, Taxed. Bills that day print it by name. Tell guests before they order (a sign or the menu).
Can cashiers still type their own discount?
Yes, a % or an amount, within their role's limit. Named discounts are just quicker and easier to report on.
Does a surcharge apply to QR and kiosk orders?
It applies to the orders you choose (dine-in, takeaway, delivery), when the bill is printed, whatever channel the order came from.
Pause or remove?
Pause a surcharge you'll use again (a public holiday a few times a year): one switch turns it back on with its days and rate. Remove it when it's gone for good. Bills already printed keep it either way.
If it goes wrong
A surcharge didn't apply
Check it isn't Paused, then the days, hours and dates (dates are business days), the order types, and that it isn't limited to another branch.
