Card on a connected terminal
When the restaurant has connected a card provider (Tyro, in Australia), the till sends the amount to the terminal and the payment fills itself in: no typing the amount twice, no Card approved tap, the tip and approval code recorded with it.
Till (an order) Bill… Take payment Card · Tyro (the terminal's name)
- Tap Take payment. The terminal tiles (Card · Tyro, one per terminal, this till's own first) come first.
- Type the amount, or leave the whole balance, and tap Send … to the terminal.
- The till shows Waiting for the card. The guest taps, inserts or swipes on the terminal and can add a tip there.
- Approved by Tyro: the amount, the tip, the card (Visa ••0921) and the approval code. It's Recorded by itself. Tap Next payment, Next guest or Done.
- The terminal asks something (a receipt, a signature)? The question shows on the till: answer there or on the terminal.
- Changed your mind while it waits? Cancel: nothing is charged.
- The guest's card receipt (when the terminal didn't print one): Print, Email (the address is used once, not kept) or No receipt. The bill's receipt prints when it's paid, with each card's slip under it.

Table 6's total is 96.00. Tap the terminal tile, type 32.00, Send. The first guest adds a 3.00 tip on the terminal: Approved · 35.00. Next guest, and the same for the other two. The bill is paid and the receipt prints.

Not sure it went through
The till shows Not sure it went through: Tyro hasn't answered (a dropped connection). Don't take the card again. Tap Check again: the till asks Tyro about the same payment, so the guest is never charged twice. Not settled in 10 minutes, it goes to Review for a manager.
The internet is down
The terminal needs the internet to talk to the till. The till says Card · Tyro needs the internet: take it on the terminal by itself (its own SIM keeps it working), then tap Card on your terminal to record it by hand. The next morning's check matches it.
Can I undo a Tyro payment?
No: the money moved on the card. Give it back with a refund to the same card (Refunds).
Declined?
Declined by the bank and nothing was charged. Try again with another card, or Another way.
If it goes wrong
"Counter Tyro is busy"
The terminal is taking another payment: one at a time. Wait and try again, or use another terminal.
Receipts say TEST · NO MONEY MOVED
The connection is Tyro's sandbox (or Tillmora's simulator), for trying things out. Live receipts never say so.
